Languaging - A Journal of Language Teaching and Language Studies
Instructions to Authors
Languaging welcomes original, critical, and contextually grounded submissions for its forthcoming issues. The journal publishes a range of contributions,
including full-length research articles, book reviews, interviews, and research dissemination pieces.
Research articles should be theoretical, empirical, or review-based; critically engage with literature, methodology, and implications for pedagogy
and policy; and not exceed 5000 words, including references.
Book reviews (1000 words) must offer critical assessments of recent publications in ELT or applied linguistics, positioning them within relevant
scholarly conversations.
Interviews should follow an edited Q&A format, be thematically organised and professionally transcribed, and have a word count of 2500.
Research dissemination articles are concise, practice-oriented summaries of doctoral work with clear implications for educators, limited to 1500 words.
As a unique feature of Languaging, the journal invites research dissemination articles that aim to bridge the gap between
academic research and classroom
practice. These articles aim to translate evidence-based academic research into accessible, practical insights for ESL classroom practitioners by simplifying
and contextualizing research findings—especially from theses or dissertations—into clear, implementable guidelines for teachers. Articles should avoid jargon,
prioritize clarity, and present information in formats useful for real-world teaching (e.g., tasks and activities, checklists, instructional strategies or
strategy guides). Submissions may include classroom application examples, case studies of implementation, or reflections from collaborative work with teachers.
Authors are encouraged to highlight contextual relevance, particularly for marginalized, multilingual, or resource-constrained settings. The goal is to support
the adoption of evidence-based practices, encourage teacher agency, and build stronger researcher–practitioner partnerships in ESL education.
All submissions must relate to broad or emerging themes in English language education, such as classroom practices, curriculum design, assessment innovations,
technology integration, teacher development, the interface between education and industry, language and sustainability, and other critical areas shaping the
field. Manuscripts should be submitted in MS Word format (.doc or .docx), and the first page must include the title, names of all authors and their affiliated
institutions, email addresses, brief biographical notes (50 words per author), an abstract (150–350 words), and five to six keywords.
All submissions should be accompanied by a cover letter confirming that the manuscript has not been previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere,
a plagiarism examination report, and a declaration affirming that the article does not violate any copyright. Authors bear full responsibility for the originality,
accuracy, and viewpoints expressed in their work.
Formatting requirements include using APA (7th edition) citation style, British spelling (as per the Concise Oxford English Dictionary), Times New Roman
12-point font, and double spacing. Paragraphs should not be indented; instead, two hard returns should be used between paragraphs. Headings must be formatted
using Word styles to indicate their hierarchy. Submissions should be emailed to languagingeflu@gmail.com.
The journal charges no publication fees and follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process by two independent reviewers to ensure the quality and relevance
of published work.
