Brief bio note: Nikhila H. is Professor in the Department of Film Studies, The English and Foreign Languages University (EFL-U), Hyderabad. She has been teaching for nearly 30 years now, with teaching stints at Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru, Pondicherry Central University, Puducherry, and now in EFL-U, Hyderabad since 2010. Nikhila got her doctorate for her dissertation on Gender and Partition. She has published books, articles in journals, e-magazines and book chapters on cinema and gender. She has organized workshops and film festivals, and has been invited speaker in numerous seminars, conferences and as resource person at various workshops and HRDC-UGC organized programs. She has been a Jury member for Toto Funds the Arts (TFA) Short Film Awards for 2022. She is co-convener of an online film discussion forum called Talking Films Online, since June 2020. She supervises doctoral research in Film Studies, and eight students have been awarded their Ph.D. degree under her supervision. Her recent publications are a commissioned essay on Shyam Benegal and a co-authored essay for a volume on the politics of curatorship. She is currently researching on New Age Kannada cinema for a collaborative volume on New Cinemas of India.
