Establishment of the Department
- Established in 2009 to promote research in comparative literary studies.
- The ‘India Studies’ component was added to the department in the year 2014.
Responsibilities of the Department
- Examine literatures of the global south and develop an alternative
to the western models of comparative literary studies
- Develop a tri-continental comparative literary model
comprising literatures from South Asia, Africa and Latin America due to an innovative paradigm shift
- Promote research and teaching in comparative studies and related areas
- Publish research articles and books
- Networking with other universities in India and abroad
- Promote collaborative projects
- Organize talks, seminars and workshops
