- Sajal Dey, a PhD in Russian from the Bhasha Bhavana,Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, teaches Russian language and literature at the English and Foreign Languages University, Regional Campus Shillong, Meghalaya, India. A member of many Linguistics-based and other academic societies in India and abroad, Dey is also the Head In-charge of the Department of Russian Studies at EFLU Shillong. His academic interests include Russian Studies, Esperanto Studies, FLT, Tagore Studies, Sociolinguistics, and Language Rights.Dey translates to and from different languages like Hindi, Assamese, English, Russian and Esperanto. A poet himself, he has published four collections of poems in Bangla. His latest book Prithibir Buke Dinguli (2022) is a translation from Jaroi Sur Tero into Bangla, the first Esperanto autobiography written by an Indian, Lakshmishwar Sinha. Dey has also translated a Sahitya Akademi award-winning novel Abhijatri (2007) from Assamese into Bangla, and his poems have been included in many collections till date.
